Adrian Landon Brooks 'Works On Paper' Prints Available

Artist: Adrian Landon Brooks
Title: Works On Paper
Medium: Deckled Serigraphs
Size: 11 x 14 Inches Each
Edition: 40
Prices: $100 Each or $200/Set

Adrian Landon Brooks is an American artist born in Houston Texas in 1983 who now lives and works in the woods outside Austin. He studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and has developed a distinctive desert folk aesthetic that merges spiritual symbolism with roughhewn materials. Brooks combs burn piles at sawmills junk shops and antique stores searching for weathered wood corroded metal and faded photographs whose patina he refuses to strip. Once an object speaks to him he answers with acrylic ink pastel and pencil applying serene faces celestial bodies blooming flowers and geometric altars that hover between ancient icon and contemporary dream.

A consistent pastel palette of peach mint and lilac softens the melancholy themes of love loss and redemption that run through his work creating a gentle dissonance that soothes while it unsettles. The artist credits his early days writing graffiti with teaching him color composition and urgency lessons that still guide his bold concise imagery. Recent murals include commissions for the San Antonio Spurs and large scale walls across Texas while gallery exhibitions like Siren Song reveal a more deliberate dialogue with Egyptian and pan Mediterranean forms. Whether painting on a shard of barn wood or a full city wall Brooks hopes viewers leave with wonder detached from the here and now feeling the ritual pulse that connects handmade mark to timeless story.

Ben Frost is an Australian contemporary artist born in 1975 who has gained international recognition for his bold, irreverent Pop Art that subverts mainstream media iconography. Based in Melbourne, Frost creates kaleidoscopic mash-up paintings that draw inspiration from graffiti, collage, photorealism, and sign-writing techniques. His instantly recognizable style features everyday consumer products and beloved childhood characters recontextualized in provocative scenarios that critique consumer culture and advertising.
Frost's work challenges Western cultural norms through confrontational imagery, often depicting familiar mascots like Super Mario, Bart Simpson, and Pikachu in compromising situations that explore themes of addiction, hyper-consumerism, and the darker side of commercialism. His paintings frequently utilize packaging surfaces, from McDonald's fry containers to luxury fashion bags, creating a tension between fast-food accessibility and high-end status symbols.
Educated at Queensland College of Art, Frost has exhibited internationally for over two decades with solo shows in London, New York, Sydney, Los Angeles, Toronto, Singapore, Berlin, Miami, and San Francisco. His controversial 2000 exhibition "Ben Frost is Dead" made national news when he faked his own death. Notable collaborations include working with Jeremy Scott for Moschino's Fall/Winter 2018 capsule collection and partnering with Carolina Herrera for a limited edition fragrance release. Frost also founded Stupid Krap, a platform promoting Australian artists globally, and established Paste-Modernism, the world's largest paste-up festival.

Maurice Sendak was an American artist and writer born in 1928 in Brooklyn New York to Polish Jewish immigrant parents. He became one of the most influential creators of children literature through his ability to acknowledge the complex emotions of childhood. Sendak illustrated more than one hundred books during his career but achieved lasting fame as the author and artist of Where the Wild Things Are published in 1963. The story follows Max a boy who sails to an island of fearsome creatures after being sent to bed without supper and it revolutionized picture books by presenting a protagonist who acts out anger and experiences darkness without moralizing resolution.

Sendak distinctive visual style combined crosshatching expressive characters and dreamlike landscapes that felt both inviting and slightly dangerous. He believed children deserved honest stories that reflected their inner turmoil rather than sanitized versions of reality. His other major works include In the Night Kitchen and Outside Over There which together with Wild Things form a trilogy exploring the emotional terrain of youth. Sendak also designed sets and costumes for opera and ballet productions bringing his imaginative vision to new audiences. He received numerous honors including the Caldecott Medal the Hans Christian Andersen Award and the National Medal of Arts. Sendak died in 2012 yet his books continue to resonate because they validate the wildness wonder and occasional terror that accompany growing up.
