Adrian Landon Brooks is an American artist born in Houston Texas in 1983 who now lives and works in the woods outside Austin. He studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute and has developed a distinctive desert folk aesthetic that merges spiritual symbolism with roughhewn materials. Brooks combs burn piles at sawmills junk shops and antique stores searching for weathered wood corroded metal and faded photographs whose patina he refuses to strip.
