BEYOND THE STREETS

Beyond The Streets is a prominent art gallery and a global art-driven cultural and educational movement with a permanent flagship space located in Los Angeles, dedicated to the rich history and evolution of graffiti and street art. The founder and owner is Roger Gastman, a key figure in the street art world, known for producing the Academy Award-nominated film Exit Through the Gift Shop and co-curating the Art in the Streets exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Los Angeles in 2011. Gastman's vision for Beyond The Streets is to celebrate "mark makers and rule breakers" through large-scale exhibitions, immersive installations, and educational experiences that explore the intersection of street art with fashion, music, and film.

The business model of Beyond The Streets revolves around both temporary, massive-scale traveling exhibitions in major cities worldwide (including New York, London, and Shanghai) and a permanent, free-to-enter Los Angeles gallery space featuring rotating exhibits. The gallery showcases works from a diverse roster of contemporary and emerging artists alongside historical context provided by graffiti documentarians. A significant part of its commercial model includes an extensive gift shop that sells a wide array of high-quality merchandise, including prints, books, apparel, and collectibles, available both physically and online. This approach merges public cultural access with a robust retail operation, allowing visitors to engage with the culture at various price points. The permanent gallery in LA also shares a building with Gastman's other venture, Control Gallery, which features artists from outside the street art genre, further diversifying his business portfolio.

The gallery has established a strong reputation as a leading authority on street art, known for presenting some of the largest and most comprehensive exhibitions of the genre globally. It is highly regarded by visitors and critics alike for its thoughtfully curated and immersive displays that pay homage to the history and influential figures of graffiti while also showcasing contemporary interpretations. The institution has hosted over 650,000 unique visitors across its various shows and generated billions of media impressions, underscoring its significant cultural impact.
