______________

Prefab77, whose real name is Peter Manning, is a British contemporary street and fine artist renowned for his bold, graphic style that blends urban decay with high fashion aesthetics. Working out of Newcastle for over 20 years, his art is a fusion of experiences from North England, California, and New York, reflecting a narrative of modern popular culture, money, fashion, and politics.
Manning’s artistic journey began in an unconventional setting: as a printmaker and designer in Her Majesty's British Army. This early experience in design and printmaking laid the foundation for his meticulous technique. His career then led him to the fashion and marketing industries, including a significant period living and working in New York City's Lower East Side during the 1990s. The raw, layered street culture of Nolita, clashing with emerging gentrification and luxury brands, profoundly influenced his unique aesthetic, characterized by a mix of acrylic, spray paint, wheatpaste, and varnish.
Prefab77's work is instantly recognizable for its hard edged, stripped down compositions, often featuring allegorical female portraits or "Gangs, Goddesses and Groupies" alongside traditional iconography and anti-establishment motifs. His murals, such as "Net Worth" in North Shields, often incorporate local heritage and political commentary, using a blend of photo-realism and pop art elements.
He has exhibited globally in galleries in Detroit, San Francisco, and Ibiza, and has been commissioned by major brands including Nike, Converse, GAP, and Keds. His work has also graced the cover of the New York Dolls' final studio album, Dancing Backward in High Heels.
