Clementine Bal 'Two Mountains' Sculpture Pre-Order

Artist: Clementine Bal
Title: Two Mountains
Medium: Resin, Marble Powder Graphite Sculpture
Size: 22 x 15 x 12 cm
Edition: 8
Prices: $395

Clémentine Bal is a French sculptor born in Paris in 1979 who currently lives and works in Val-Revermont. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Annecy, she has developed a distinctive artistic language that bridges the gap between natural forms and the human psyche. Her work is deeply rooted in the themes of childhood, memory, and emotional connection, manifesting as a bestiary of imaginary creatures, hybrid spirits, and sentient geological features like volcanoes and mountains. These figures often feature closed eyes and serene expressions, suggesting an internal state of meditation and a profound sense of calm that serves as a protective barrier against the chaos of the external world.
The aesthetic of her sculptures is heavily influenced by the whimsical yet emotionally complex realms of Hayao Miyazaki, manga, and traditional Japanese statuary, as well as the pop surrealism of artists like Mark Ryden and Marion Peck. Bal employs a meticulous and slow creation process, building her works layer by layer using a variety of materials including resin, epoxy paste, fiberglass, and polystyrene. This additive method is followed by intensive sanding to achieve soft, rounded curves that she describes as a form of caress. She finishes her pieces with matte, velvety paints, graphite, and pastels to enhance their tactile and ethereal quality. Through these "small totems," Bal explores the intricate web of human relationships and the universal language of empathy.

 _______________

Born in 1975, the French artist known as Bom.K is a central figure in the contemporary graffiti and urban art movement. His real name is Nicolas Clément, and he rose to prominence as a founding member of the influential Da Mental Vaporz crew, which was established in 1999. Based in the suburbs of Paris, Clément began his artistic journey in the early 1990s, honing his skills on the walls of industrial zones and railway sidings. His work is characterized by a dark, surrealist aesthetic that explores the visceral and often grotesque aspects of the human condition.
Clément is renowned for his technical mastery of the aerosol spray can, using it to create intricate textures and anatomical distortions that blur the line between the organic and the mechanical. His compositions frequently feature hybrid creatures, skeletal forms, and claustrophobic urban landscapes, reflecting a preoccupation with social decay and the psychological pressures of modern life. Unlike many graffiti artists who focus on lettering, Clément shifted the movement toward complex figurative painting, earning him international acclaim in both the street art scene and the fine art gallery circuit.
Throughout his career, he has transitioned from massive outdoor murals to smaller scale works on canvas and paper, maintaining a raw intensity in every medium. His contributions to the art world have been showcased in major exhibitions across Europe and North America, solidifying his reputation as a visionary who translates the grit of the street into a profound visual language.

Helch is a pseudonymous British street artist known for large-scale, striking murals that blend humor, social commentary, and contemporary imagery. Emerging in the early 2010s, his work quickly gained recognition across the UK, particularly for its accessibility and bold aesthetic. His artistic style is characterized by vibrant colors and a distinctive, often satirical, take on modern life and popular culture. Helch frequently employs a cast of recurring characters and motifs, including depictions of cartoon-like figures, often engaging in absurd or slightly melancholic scenarios. This playful yet pointed approach allows him to tackle serious subjects like consumerism, urban decay, and the anxieties of the digital age with a lighthearted touch.
A notable feature of Helch’s work is its site-specific nature. He often chooses prominent, highly visible urban spaces for his murals, ensuring maximum impact and engagement with the public. This strategic placement transforms everyday city walls into unexpected galleries, making art accessible to a wide audience outside of traditional institutions.
While his true identity remains a mystery, typical of the street art world, Helch maintains a significant presence through his prolific output and engagement with the urban landscape. His contributions have made him a celebrated figure in the British street art scene, known for his unique ability to capture the zeitgeist of contemporary UK society in a single, vivid frame. Through his art, Helch continues to challenge and charm observers across the country.
