Pierre Yves Riveau, known by his artist pseudonym PEZ, is a celebrated French illustrator, painter, and graphic designer born in Nantes in 1981. Influenced by graffiti, hip hop culture, and surrealists like Dalí and Magritte, PEZ has cultivated a distinctive style that blends pop culture with street art aesthetics. He is internationally renowned for his meticulously detailed, photorealistic pencil drawings and mixed media paintings, often depicting well-known American cartoon characters in states of deconstruction or decay.
PEZ's work is distinguished by its technical precision and embedded, often dark or satirical, narratives. A notable series, "Distroy," visually corrupts beloved icons like Homer Simpson or SpongeBob SquarePants to comment on societal issues or the impact of modern life.
