The French artist duo known as Murmure consists of Paul Ressencourt and Simon Roché. Originating from France, the pair first began focusing on their collaborative creative output in 2010 after meeting during their studies at the École Supérieure d’Arts & Médias in Caen. Ressencourt was born in 1981 and Roché in 1983. Their formal education provided a strong foundation in graphic arts and technical execution which they eventually channeled into a shared passion for drawing and street art. Over the last decade, Murmure has evolved from an ephemeral street art project into a globally recognized studio practice that creates high quality limited edition art prints and original works.
Significant accomplishments for the duo include their mastery of hyperrealistic charcoal and graphite techniques which they have since expanded into bronze sculptures and large scale murals. Their work is characterized by a blend of surrealism and social commentary often focusing on environmental impact and the paradoxes of consumer society. Murmure has successfully transitioned from the streets to prestigious indoor settings while maintaining their signature narrative depth. Their technical precision in scale one black chalk drawings has made them a favorite among poster collectors who value intricate detail and conceptual weight.
The duo has participated in numerous high profile art shows and gallery exhibitions across Europe and beyond. They held a notable solo show titled Jusqu’ici tout va bien at Galerie LJ in Paris where they introduced a series questioning human behavior and its ecological footprint. Other significant exhibitions include their solo show Innocence at Exclusive Urban Art and their participation in the group show heARTwork at Mazel Galerie. They have also been featured in international street art festivals such as the Points de Vue street art festival in Bayonne where they completed the impressive Dung Beetle mural.
Famous pieces of art by the duo include the widely recognized Garbage Ocean series which features striking imagery of sea life intertwined with plastic waste. Other iconic works include the Childhood of Art series such as L’Enfance de l’art pl.8 and Un Grain De Sable. Their portfolio also boasts standout pieces like The Beast, Dung Beetle, and various works from their Background series. By consistently pushing the boundaries of traditional drawing and urban intervention, they have secured a permanent place in the collections of limited edition art print enthusiasts worldwide.
