CRASH 'Clockin' A/P Available

Artist: CRASH
Title: Clockin
Medium: Deckled 10 Color Screen Print
Size: 24 x 24 Inches
Edition: A/P
Price: $600

John Matos, professionally known as CRASH, remains a pioneering figure in the evolution of aerosol art from the New York City subway system to global galleries. Born in the Bronx in 1961, his journey began during the formative years of the graffiti movement in the 1970s. By the age of thirteen, he was already painting train cars, developing a signature style characterized by bold lettering and vibrant, comic book-inspired imagery.
A pivotal moment in his career occurred in 1980 when he curated the groundbreaking exhibition Graffiti Art Success for America at Fashion Moda. This event served as a bridge between the street and the formal art world, legitimizing the movement in the eyes of critics and collectors. His work is easily recognizable for its use of explosive colors, pop art aesthetics, and the recurring motif of a wide, stylized eye, which often peers through layers of abstract shapes.
Throughout the decades, CRASH has successfully transitioned his energetic street style onto canvas without losing its raw vitality. His influence extends beyond traditional paintings into high-profile collaborations. Notably, he designed custom painted guitars for Eric Clapton, one of which sold for nearly one million dollars at auction. His art is now held in permanent collections at prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. As of 2026, he continues to be an active force in the creative community, proving that the visual language of the streets possesses enduring power and sophistication.

Futura 'Snow Globe' Available

Artist: Futura
Title: Snow Globe
Medium: Glass + Resin on Metal Base
Size: 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 Inches
Edition: UNSURE
Prices: $60

Leonard Hilton McGurr, known professionally as Futura, is a foundational figure in the evolution of graffiti into fine art. Rising to prominence in the 1970s New York City subway scene, he distinguished himself through a radical departure from the letter-based styles of his peers. While others focused on elaborate typography, Futura pioneered an abstract aesthetic characterized by ethereal sprays, thin lines, and a sense of cosmic motion. His seminal 1980 work on a subway car, titled Break, serves as a historic milestone for introducing pure abstraction to a medium previously defined by linguistic representation.
His influence extends far beyond the transit tunnels of his youth. Throughout the 1980s, he transitioned into the traditional art world, exhibiting alongside contemporaries such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. His signature style—often featuring floating orbs, crane-like motifs, and sharp, geometric elements—found a natural home in the burgeoning hip-hop and streetwear cultures. He gained further international recognition for his live painting during the Clash’s 1981 European tour, effectively bridging the gap between American street culture and global punk movements.
In the decades since, Futura has become a prolific collaborator with major global brands, applying his distinct visual language to everything from high-fashion apparel to athletic footwear. This commercial success has not diminished his status as an innovator; instead, it has solidified his role as a bridge between the grit of the street and the prestige of contemporary galleries. Today, he remains a vital force in the art world, continuing to explore the intersection of technology, graphic design, and abstract expressionism.

_______________

BEYOND THE STREETS is proud to present SHEPARD FAIREY: OUT OF PRINT, a landmark exhibition devoted to the artist’s lifelong dialogue with printmaking. Bringing together more than 400 original screen prints alongside new and re‑mixed works that combine screen printing and stenciling, the exhibition surveys Fairey’s enduring commitment to the image, the multiple, and the power of mass communication.

“I’m a product of the era of mass production, and the mass culture printing has created. I can’t imagine my art practice without the influence of, and the use of, printing,” says Shepard Fairey. “Some of my biggest art influences were not paintings but printed things like posters, album covers, skateboard graphics, punk flyers, and t‑shirt designs. Printing is a cornerstone of my art practice and philosophy. The printing press began the democratization of art, and I have used printed posters to spread my artwork and messages in public spaces as well as keep my art affordable by printing multiples.”

Spanning early underground interventions to celebrated cultural icons, OUT OF PRINT charts Fairey’s evolution across three and a half decades: from guerrilla placements and hand‑pulled posters to studio editions whose graphic precision and political urgency have entered the global visual lexicon. The presentation highlights the artist’s fluency in the language of advertising and propaganda, recoding those strategies to “arrest visually and provoke intellectually,” and underscores how the reproducible image circulated on walls, in windows, and through wardrobes functions as both civic dialogue and cultural memory.

Alongside historic and rare editions, the exhibition debuts a focused group of hybrid works in which layered stencils, paper, and ink collide expanding Fairey’s print vocabulary while remaining rooted in the immediacy of the street. Archival materials, process ephemera, and contextual graphics round out the presentation, offering a behind‑the‑scenes look at the artist’s methods and influences posters, album art, skateboard graphics, and punk flyers among them.  “OUT OF PRINT brings together the spirit of the street and the discipline of the studio,” notes Director Dante Parel. “It’s an opportunity to experience the breadth of Shepard’s print practice in one sweep from the subcultural pulse that shaped him to the images that, in turn, helped shape public imagination.”

“Some people say digital media has ended print, but the provocative, tactile experience of a print on a wall or in the wild can’t be replaced” says Shepard Fairey, “Printing still matters!”

Aiko/Montana 'Tokyo Pink' Can Available

Artist: Aiko
Title: MTN Spray Can
Medium: Custom Printed Montana Can in Box
Size: Spray Paint Can Size
Edition: 500
Price: $50

Aiko is a Japanese born street artist and printmaker who became one of the original members of the New York collective FAILE. Born Aiko Nakagawa in Tokyo in 1975, she studied filmmaking and graphic design before moving to New York City in 1997. There she met Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, and together they formed the trio that would evolve into FAILE, wheat-pasting layered pop culture collages across downtown walls.
Within the collective Aiko brought a refined stencil technique and a feminine perspective, often inserting elegant female silhouettes, kimono patterns and delicate line work amid the group’s chaotic posters. She documented early street missions on camera and helped develop the ripped, multi-layer aesthetic that became FAILE’s signature. In 2006 she left the group to pursue solo projects, adopting the moniker Lady Aiko, and quickly gained recognition for her own imagery: geishas, butterflies and a recurring bunny motif first sprayed on a bathroom door in Banksy’s London studio.
Today Aiko works on canvas, wood and large outdoor walls from Brooklyn to Miami, Tokyo and Berlin. Her process still relies on hand-cut stencils, gold leaf and spray paint, blending ukiyo-e influences with contemporary street energy. Murals such as Lady With Parasol in Little Italy and Geisha Walk on the Bowery have become landmarks, while gallery exhibitions in New York, London and Paris present limited edition prints that sell out rapidly. By merging Japanese iconography with punk attitude, Aiko continues to expand the dialogue between Eastern tradition and Western street culture, proving that grace and rebellion can coexist on the same wall.
