The artist "Murmure" is a French duo comprising Paul Ressencourt (b. 1981) and Simon Roché (b. 1983), known for their impactful street art and studio work. They met while studying at the École Supérieure d'Arts & Médias in Caen around 2010 and developed a shared passion for drawing and urban art beyond their academic pursuits.
Murmure's artistic practice is characterized by transforming selected locations into powerful pictorial narratives, often utilizing charcoal drawing techniques to create striking, large-scale ephemeral works on city walls before expanding into other media. Their process involves meticulous studio work, which since 2021 has also included painting on canvas and bronze sculptures, allowing them to explore themes differently depending on the medium.
The duo's art is deliberately engaged, exploring strong contemporary themes with a playful, dreamlike, or poetic approach. They visually echo the concerns of their generation, with favorite subjects including childhood, homelessness, consumer society, new technologies, and the environment. Their work often highlights the human impact on the planet, creating a reflection on the future of our world and evolving lifestyles.
