Danielle Lee is a New Jersey artist who paints moments of quiet wonder hidden inside everyday suburbia. Working from a sunlit corner of her Edison home, she layers soft acrylic glazes and delicate ink lines to create gentle scenes where backyard sparrows become muses and spilled coffee suggests galaxies. Her Etsy storefront, danielleleeart, doubles as an open studio: original six inch panels, hand pulled mini prints and downloadable colouring pages sit side by side, inviting collectors of every budget to take home a piece of her contemplative world.
Lee studied graphic design at Rutgers, but found her true voice after the birth of her second child, when long stroller walks revealed beauty in cracked sidewalks and rain soaked mailboxes. She began documenting these tiny marvels in sketchbooks, then translated them into paintings alive with muted turquoise, dusty rose and the occasional metallic flash that mimics light on wet pavement. Each piece is finished with subtle graphite scribbles, a nod to childhood diary entries and the unfinished thoughts that accompany motherhood.
Her series Suburban Constellations maps neighbourhood sprinkler arcs across indigo night skies, while Kitchen Cosmos turns overripe bananas into swirling nebulae, reminding viewers that awe is always within arm’s reach. Commissions have personalised everything from wedding vows hidden among tree branches to beloved pets reimagined as Renaissance cherubs, all rendered with the same tender attention.
Her love of block prints and found household items has translated into a wonderful series of everyday items eternalized. When she is not painting, Lee teaches local workshops that encourage participants to trade perfectionism for curiosity, proving that creativity can thrive between laundry cycles and school pick up lines. Through every small canvas she offers a gentle promise: look closer, breathe deeper, and the ordinary will sparkle.
