Jonathan Lawes is a contemporary artist and designer based in South East London, known for his vibrant, bold, and geometric abstract works that seamlessly blend fine art and design. Lawes graduated from Leeds Arts University in 2009 with a BA in Printed Textile & Surface Pattern Design, a background that heavily influences his current practice.

He spent nearly a decade living and working in Berlin before returning to the UK in 2018 to further develop his artistic style. His creative process is deeply rooted in silkscreen printing, a medium he uses intuitively to build compositions directly on the printing table. This hands-on, experimental approach embraces considered imperfections and explores the interplay of opaque and transparent elements, creating works with a strong sense of rhythm and harmony. Lawes has expanded his work onto various surfaces, including canvas, wood, and vintage book covers, and he possesses a deep understanding of color theory, using thoughtful palettes to evoke emotion and guide the viewer's experience.
