Ann Craven 'Quiet Moon' Print Available

Artist: Ann Craven
Title: Quiet Moon
Medium: 7 Color Lithograph Print
Size: 27 x 33.5 Inches
Edition: 75
Price: $3,000

Born in Boston in 1967, Ann Craven is an American artist recognized for her vibrant, repetitive paintings of birds, flowers, animals, and the moon. Her journey into art was rooted in early exposure to nature scenes and oil painting classes in a studio setting, later leading to formal education where she earned a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1986 and an MFA from Columbia University in 1993. A critical formative period included working as an assistant to Alex Katz, which solidified her focus on observation and technique. Ann Craven is celebrated for her "revisitation" method, a practice born after a 1999 studio fire, where she repaints subjects from memory, vintage books, and direct observation, producing series that explore time and memory. Notable for her signature Ann Craven moon paintings, some of which totaled over 400 iterations, she uses a wet on wet oil technique to capture gestural, high key colored surfaces. Significant accomplishments include being awarded the 2025 Maine in America award from the Farnsworth Art Museum and having her work included in major public collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Her exhibition history is extensive, featuring solo shows at Karma GalleryLe Confort Moderne in France, SCAD Museum of Art, and Southard Reid. Famous pieces often center on her recurring motifs, such as Moon (Cushing, 7 21 13, 11.05PM)Deer in Daisies, and various Bird with Cherries iterations, all showcasing her unique emotional conceptualism. Ann Craven continues to live and work in New York, frequently collaborating on prints and artist books.

Emerging as a notable name within the indie art print and collector community, Glazier specializes in linoleum relief prints that capture the subtle beauty of nature, tiny critters, and the uniqueness of the everyday outdoors. Her artistic focus blossomed from a desire to celebrate these quiet, natural moments through handcrafted, high contrast folk art styles.
