The artistic journey of Nerone began in Bordeaux, France, where he was born and raised. Known in the professional world by his alias, the artist’s real name is Gaëtan Billault. Growing up in a vibrant cultural hub, he was deeply influenced by the burgeoning hip hop scene and the expressive nature of graffiti that adorned the city walls. This early exposure to street culture served as the catalyst for his lifelong passion for visual expression. He officially began focusing his energy on art during his teenage years, specifically around the late nineties, when the raw energy of the French street art movement was at its peak.

While many street artists are self taught, Nerone pursued a formal education to refine his technical skills. He studied graphic design in France, a background that is clearly reflected in the clean lines and meticulous compositions found in his mural work and limited edition prints. This academic foundation allowed him to bridge the gap between spontaneous street aesthetics and polished commercial design. After honing his craft in France, he eventually relocated to London, where the city’s industrial landscape and diverse art community further shaped his neon infused floral style.
One of the most significant accomplishments for Nerone was the creation of his signature aesthetic which blends botanical motifs with electric, surrealist lighting. His work has been recognized globally for its ability to transform urban spaces into immersive gardens. He has been commissioned for massive mural projects by high profile organizations and has successfully transitioned into the world of collectable posters and screen prints. His ability to maintain the integrity of his street style while producing high quality studio work has made him a sought after name for those who collect limited edition art.
His exhibition history is extensive and spans multiple continents. He participated in the Moniker Art Fair in London, an event renowned for showcasing urban culture. He also showcased his work at StolenSpace Gallery, a venue famous for representing artists who have roots in street art and graffiti. Another notable appearance was at the Urban Art Fair in Paris, where his large scale installations stood out as a highlight of the event. These appearances have solidified his reputation among serious art collectors and enthusiasts of the new contemporary movement.
