SNIK is a British street art duo comprised of artists Nicholas Ellis and Laura Perrett. Based in Stamford, UK, the pair have been working together since around 2012, building on the initial project started by Ellis in 2005. They are best known for their intricate, hyperrealistic, and large scale stencil work, a technique they have honed over a decade to become highly progressive artists in the field. SNIK distinguishes themselves by remaining traditionalists, painstakingly hand cutting all of their complex, multi layered stencils, where many contemporaries have shifted to digital or laser cutting methods. Their signature aesthetic features captivating frozen scenes of dynamic action, often focusing on solitary female figures and delicate details of everyday life, such as tangled strands of hair or the folds and textures of fabrics. The duo's work often incorporates elements of the natural world, which speaks to themes of fragility, resilience, and the inevitability of nature's reclamation of human spaces. This unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary urban sensibility has earned them commissions to create murals on walls across the globe, from their home in the UK to cities in Norway, Miami, and Hong Kong.
