Paul Farrell is a prominent UK based graphic artist, illustrator, and printmaker renowned for his bold, colourful, and geometric style. Based in his home city of Bristol after a long career in London, Farrell's work is heavily inspired by 1970s pop culture, pattern, and a deep interest in nature and the graphic arts. He translates everyday observations into simple, playful, and often iconic imagery, using shape and vibrant colour as a primary means of expression. His distinctive aesthetic has a mid century modern feel, characterized by a clean, minimalist use of line and form.
Farrell's professional journey began after graduating with a BA Honours degree in Graphic Design from Middlesex Polytechnic in 1988. He spent over two decades as a graphic designer in London, specialising in brand design, before becoming self employed in 2009. Since then, he has expanded his practice to include printmaking and authorship, dividing his studio time between commercial design projects and his personal artistic endeavours.
