Imbue 'Meet Your Heroes' Work In Progress Video

Imbue is a British artist, born in London in 1988, who has established a significant presence within the urban art scene by creating thought provoking works that challenge social norms and modern consumerism. Known for his subversive and often satirical approach, he utilizes various media including sculpture, screen prints, and installation to, in his words, mix things up. Raised in the Southeast England county of Kent, he exhibited a passion for creation from a young age, engaging with, and often reconfiguring, found objects. His education was focused solely on art in college, where he explored different disciplines before transitioning to independent creation. Though his roots are in guerrilla art, he transitioned into a full time artist roughly ten years ago.
Imbue has gained notoriety for his 3D printed sculptures and street art, which often blend religious iconography with popular culture. His work frequently explores themes of technology, commerce, and societal ethics. A key, and perhaps most well known, piece is Always the Real Thing, a sculpture that fuses the silhouette of the Virgin Mary with a Coca Cola bottle, highlighting themes of consumerism. Other significant pieces by the artist include Death + Taxes, which consists of resin skulls filled with real shredded cash or his church piss take Drug Lord as well as Stolen Statue. These pieces are often highly sought after by collectors within the limited edition print and urban art community.
In 2009, he held his first solo exhibit titled "A World Gone Mad" at the Ink_d Gallery in Brighton. He has participated in numerous, often, independent, pop up exhibitions, including the 2023 "Death + Taxes" exhibition in London, which was hosted in a pop up space in the City of London. His work has been shown in cities such as Paris and Osaka, as well as being part of the Birmingham Design Festival. Imbue has also held exhibitions at the No Walls Gallery in Brighton. His creative approach often bypasses traditional, commercial, gallery representation in favor of direct to collector, online sales, including the "24 Hour Art Club" where he releases limited edition prints available only for only 24 hours.
