Don Pendleton is an American contemporary artist and designer whose work has become synonymous with the visual language of skateboarding culture. Best known for his bold, graphic style defined by abstract shapes, vibrant colors, and layered iconography, Pendleton has created a visual identity that bridges fine art, commercial design, and subcultural aesthetics.

Pendleton’s career took off in the mid-1990s when he began designing skateboard graphics for Alien Workshop, one of the most influential companies in the industry. His distinctive artwork, often combining geometric abstraction with surreal and playful characters, quickly became central to the brand’s identity. Over the years, his designs appeared on decks, apparel, and promotional material, influencing generations of skaters and artists alike. After leaving Alien Workshop, he continued to shape skateboarding visuals through collaborations with Element Skateboards and other major brands.

Beyond the skateboarding world, Pendleton has expanded into fine art, creating paintings, prints, and gallery exhibitions across the United States and internationally. His work has been shown in solo and group shows, earning recognition for blending modernist abstraction with the DIY ethos of skateboarding. In 2014, he collaborated with Mountain Dew and pro skater Paul Rodriguez to design the award-winning book Limitless Potential, which won a Cannes Gold Lion for Design.
