Amy Gardner is a contemporary Australian artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intricate connections between the human form, emotional landscapes, and the natural world. Based in Melbourne, she has cultivated a reputation for creating evocative works that often blur the boundaries between representational figuration and ethereal abstraction. Her technical repertoire is diverse, spanning traditional oil painting, intricate printmaking, and expansive mural work. This versatility allows her to translate intimate psychological states into large-scale public installations that engage directly with the community.
A recurring theme in Gardner’s portfolio is the concept of female identity and the resilience of the human spirit. She frequently depicts figures in moments of quiet contemplation or dynamic movement, using a sophisticated color palette that balances muted earthy tones with sudden bursts of vibrant pigment. Her brushwork is characterized by a deliberate tension between precision and spontaneity, reflecting the complexities of the internal experiences she seeks to portray. By layering textures and experimenting with transparency, she creates a sense of depth that invites viewers to look beyond the surface of the canvas.
Beyond her studio practice, Gardner is recognized for her contributions to the Australian street art scene. Her murals often serve as visual anchors in urban environments, bringing a sense of softness and introspection to concrete spaces. These public works emphasize her belief in the accessibility of art and its power to transform everyday surroundings into sites of reflection. As she continues to evolve, Gardner remains a significant voice in the Australian art community, consistently pushing the limits of her chosen media to capture the nuances of existence.

Anthony McEwan, professionally known as Rugman, is a prominent figure in the British contemporary art scene, recognized for his distinct fusion of punk aesthetics and graphic illustration. Based in East London, he has spent decades refining a style that bridges the gap between high-fashion design and raw street art. His work often features a meticulous blend of hand-drawn techniques and stenciling, frequently appearing on diverse mediums including traditional canvas, apparel, and large-scale murals.
The artist is perhaps most celebrated for his subversive portraits of cultural icons and historical figures. By adorning recognizable faces with intricate tattoos and rebellious symbolism, he explores themes of identity, celebrity culture, and the passage of time. This signature approach has led to high-profile collaborations and a strong following among collectors who appreciate his ability to combine grit with sophisticated composition.
Beyond his solo gallery work, Rugman has left a significant mark on the fashion industry. He founded a successful streetwear label that translated his graphic sensibilities into wearable art, further cementing his influence in urban culture. His creative process is deeply rooted in the DIY ethos of the skate and punk subcultures that shaped his youth, yet his execution displays a refined technical skill that appeals to a broad international audience. Whether he is working on a delicate screen print or a massive exterior wall, his art remains consistent in its bold visual impact and narrative depth. He continues to be a vital contributor to the London art community, pushing the boundaries of modern pop art.

Amy Gardner 'Life' Print Available

Artist: Amy Gardner
Title: Life
Medium: Multi Color Screen Print
Size: (A3) 29.7 x 42 cm
Edition: 50
Price: £125

Amy Gardner is an Australian born, London based multimedia artist whose work bursts with bold colour and uplifting energy. Celebrating womanhood and the power of women supporting women, she draws on the hidden labour and physical movements of female experience to create pieces that feel both instinctive and rebellious. Using found images from 1950s advertising archives, she smashes idealised notions of the perfect woman, revealing how archaic stereotypes still echo in contemporary culture.
Her process is playful and non-conformist. Gardner merges lino, screen and monoprint techniques with gestural swooshes of ink, collage and photography, often employing unconventional tools like spatulas, brooms and wallpaper brushes to push paint across the surface. She deliberately mis-registers stencils and embraces imperfections, allowing each season of work to tell a different story while hinting at the subtle ways women have historically subverted their allotted roles .
Working from her home studio and communal print spaces across London, Gardner produces vibrant compositions that dance between abstraction and figuration. Her use of energetic movement, colour and flow creates uplifting images that champion uniqueness and celebrate our flaws. Her work can be found in private collections worldwide and is exhibited at galleries and international art fairs throughout the UK.
In addition to her studio practice, Gardner founded Aunt Joy Gallery, a collective of female artists aiming to improve representation of women in the art world and pave a smoother path for young female creatives. Through her art and advocacy, she continues to make a significant impact on the contemporary British art scene.
