Vasilisa Romanenko, who often shares her artistic journey and behind the scenes process at is a highly skilled New England based illustrator, designer, and fine artist known for her detailed depictions of nature's beauty and fragility. Originally born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and raised by artist parents, she began focusing intently on art at a very young age, having started painting on an easel while still a toddler. Her formal education includes achieving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and an AAS in Fashion Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Romanenko frequently combines botanical elements, intricate patterns, and animals into her work, blending her expertise in acrylic on canvas with her background in illustration.
Vasilisa Romanenko's significant accomplishments within the fine art community include being a staple at Arch Enemy Arts in Philadelphia, where her solo features have been notably successful. Her, “Woodland Wonders” (February 2022) show was a sold out event, followed by, “In the Orchard” (May 2023), “Botanical Dreamscape” (June 2024), and, “Birds & Blooms” (March 2025), all listed as sold out, proving strong demand among collectors of unique, nature themed art. Romanenko has also participated in group exhibitions at the renowned Beinart Gallery in Australia, further elevating her status in the lowbrow and surrealist scene.
Her artistic creations are featured frequently on platforms such as iCanvas and Saatchi Art, showcasing her meticulous technique, which she often refers to as a way to create magical windows into enchanted worlds. Famous pieces that have gained popularity in the limited print market include her, “Great Blue Heron” (2025), “Blossom in Time” (2024), and “Magicicada Gathering” (2024). These works, along with others, were highlighted in her 2025 solo exhibition at Arch Enemy Arts.
RVasilisa omanenko's art, described by some as “naturalistic fantasies”, often explores themes of environmental conservation and the interconnectedness of ecology. Her artistic process is a dedicated study in texture and form, frequently working with quick drying acrylics to layer complex, detailed backgrounds of foliage and fauna behind a central, often avian, subject. Her work is a popular choice for collectors seeking, “The Enchanted Garden” style, and she has even branched out to illustrate for publishers such as Penguin Random House. Her continued work in, “Birds & Blooms” reflects her, “tight, technical rendering” of nature, with her art providing a visual escape that feels, “like a quiet walk through the wild green world”. She is also working on a new collection of mini series focusing on native New England plants.
