British artist Jamie Hageman is a master of mountain landscape painting who resides in the West Highlands of Scotland. Born in Lincolnshire, his journey into the art world was deeply influenced by a childhood introduction to mountaineering in North Wales at age eleven. Although he possesses a BA Hons degree in Automotive Design from Coventry University, he is largely self taught in the realm of fine art. This background in vehicle design contributed to his precision and technical skill, but his true focus shifted toward capturing the raw power of the mountains over thirty years ago. Since 2008, Jamie Hageman has worked as a full time professional artist, and he has built a reputation for hyper realistic depictions that resonate deeply with collectors of limited edition art prints. His process often involves camping in sub zero temperatures on remote summits to find the perfect light and atmosphere for his canvases.
The significant accomplishments of Jamie Hageman include being a finalist in the inaugural Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2015. He also gained national attention as a finalist for the Jolomo Prize for Scottish Landscape Painting in 2007, where he notably sold all his exhibition pieces at the Air Gallery in Mayfair, London. His technical prowess was further recognized when he reached the finals of the BBC2 television series Show Me the Monet, which culminated in an exhibition at the Royal College of Art in London. His work has been featured in several national publications such as Trail Magazine and Art of England, highlighting his ability to translate the physical challenge of climbing into a visual experience.
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous prestigious art and gallery shows. He has held solo exhibitions at La Galleria Pall Mall in London and the Kendal Mountain Festival in the Lake District. He is also a regular exhibitor at Resipole Studios in Ardgour and has shown work at the Contemporary Fine Art Gallery Eton. Other notable venues include the Queens Gallery in Dundee and the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle. In 2016, his work was showcased at the Mountain Arts Festival held at the Rheged Centre in Penrith. The portfolio of this artist contains several famous pieces that are highly sought after by poster collectors. Among his most celebrated works are Ben Nevis at DawnThe Matterhorn, and Sunset on the Devil’s Ridge. Other significant paintings include Three Sisters, GlencoeThe Cuillin at Sunrise, and Sgurr nan Clach Geala. Collectors prize these works for their mastery of light on snow and their ability to evoke the spiritual connection one feels within the high peaks.
