Shepard Fairey's "Cold Chillin" prints are a tribute to the Golden Age of hip-hop and the cultural influences that shaped his artistic philosophy, not a specific collaboration with the record label of the same name. Fairey created the piece as part of a series of faux 12-inch LP sleeves, where he explored the music that influenced his aesthetics. The title and imagery are a visual pun and homage, rather than an official partnership.

Fairey has stated that he found it amusing to take the hip-hop metaphor of "cold chillin'" and present it literally in the artwork. The print features a penguin "chillin'" on a small piece of ice with a fan (which also serves as a turntable) metaphorically and literally blowing cool air on him. Further paying tribute to hip-hop pioneers like Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J, the penguin is depicted wearing a tracksuit and a "dookie rope" chain. The frame design was inspired by the "Hello My Name Is" tag stickers popular in graffiti culture at the time. The "Cold Chillin'" prints were released in red and blue colorways in 2008.

"I’ve done several wave illustrations over the years because I love the power and beauty of waves. The crashing waves and cycle of tides seem like an endlessly reliable pattern, but ocean health is diminishing in many places. The title Wave of Distress is meant to be a warning. Distress means “suffering in a state of great trouble.” If the oceans are in trouble, then the entire planet will be facing a wave of distress. The oceans regulate climate and reduce climate change impacts, and provide an important habitat and source of food for many species, including humans. In addition to the wave, I’ve included patterns in the art that work in rhythmic harmony. The rhythmic harmony of the ocean itself is incredibly important to maintain.
